2K Games, Gearbox Software, and 2K Australia have revealed the latest game in the Borderlands franchise. The game is titled Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and it will be heading to Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC later this year. The game takes place after the first Borderlands, but before the events of Borderlands 2. The game, as opposed to being set on their world of Pandora, will be set on Pandora’s Moon and the Hyperion moon base. There are four new playable characters for this entry in the series, and they are all familiar faces. Here are the four characters:

Athena: The Gladiator – A character who appeared in the Borderlands 1 DLC The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.

Wilhelm: The Enforcer – A boss fight from early in Borderlands 2. In the beginning of The Pre-Sequel, he appears as human, but as he levels more and more, Wilhelm becomes more robotic.

Nisha: The Lawbringer – The Sheriff of Lynchwood in Borderlands 2

Claptrap: The Fragtrap – The original Claptrap from the 1st Borderlands game

Since Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes place on the moon, Oz kits have been added to the game. The Oz kits supply the characters with air as they walk around on Pandora’s Moon. They can also be used to make characters double jump. It is also now necessary while out on the surface of the moon to manage your oxygen, and make sure that you can get inside before dying of no air. At this time, nothing has been confirmed in terms of Downloadable Content. But make sure to come back to NextGenerationGamer for all of your Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel news!
