Tales from the Borderlands is Telltale Games’ most promising franchise. The game offers a new taken on Gearbox Software’s incredible world they have crafted over the course of the Borderlands series. Tales from the Borderlands allows players to see a more story-driven take on Borderlands. Tales from the Borderlands is a strong start to the six episode series. It captures the sharp sense of humor found in the Borderlands games, along with the weighted and powerful decisions from Telltale Games’ other titles such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. After playing the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands, which is about two and a half hours long, I can say that Telltale Games is taking the series in a fantastic direction. Tales from the Borderlands also features the best main characters found in any game made by Telltale. They are extremely interesting, and I can’t wait to see where they will take us throughout the season.

Tales from the Borderlands is told by the two main characters of the game, Rhys (Troy Baker) and Fiona (Laura Bailey.) They retell the story of their first meeting, along with how the stakes grew higher and higher. The story of Tales from the Borderlands is fantastic. It is written in a way that suits the presence of two main characters. Tales from the Borderlands jumps back and forth between Rhys telling the story, and Fiona telling the story. Hearing both sides of every situation provides some great moments, along with revealing new details about the plot of the game.

In the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands, there are a number of choices that will impact how others will view the two main characters. Rhys can either be viewed as a very smart and witty individual, or a wild murderer who is feared by many. Fiona also has lots of different options impacting the way everyone around her acts. Rhys and Fiona are both extremely strong and well-written characters, and it will be very interesting to see where their journey will take them.

Telltale Games has done a phenomenal job in capturing the look and feel of the Borderlands games. Tales from the Borderlands has an amazing story with lots of great twists and turns. The characters are very developed, and every choice feels meaningful. From the over-the-top character introductions to the amazingly clever writing, there are no wrong turns in this awesome start to Telltale Games’ new series. Tales from the Borderlands is a promising, engaging, and extremely well-written title. I can’t wait to see where the game will bring  me in the next episode.
