Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Review

With all of the open-world games being remastered, such as Sleeping Dogs and Grand Theft Auto V, it was only a matter of time before Volition and Deep Silver brought their open-world super hero politics action game to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Saints Row IV: Re-Elected gives the original Saints Row IV a visual upgrade, along with including all of the game’s DLC, and a new campaign titled Gat out of Hell. Being a fan of Saints Row IV on the Xbox 360, I was delighted to play around with all of the downloadable content that I did not purchase on last gen, ranging from outfits to two short campaigns. The first set of missions is titled Enter the Dominatrix, and the other is How the Saints Saved Christmas. Both of these short campaigns are enjoyable, but nothing in the entire package can take the spotlight away from the all-new Saints Row IV: Gat out of Hell.

Saints Row IV: Gat out of Hell is an epic adventure centered around fan-favorite Johnny Gat. In the standalone DLC, the President of the United States is sucked into hell, and Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington must go to save him. Gat out of Hell takes roughly 6 hours to complete, but every second of the DLC is great. The addition of new mechanics such as flying also help Gat out of Hell feel like a fresh and new adventure. From the new weapons to the new map to the Disney-inspired musical number, this standalone DLC shows that there is a bright future ahead for the Saints Row franchise.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected truly shows off everything the series has to offer, and makes me genuinely excited to see where Deep Silver and Volition bring the franchise next. The game is jam-packed with content, and shines brighter than most other open-world remastered games on the market. Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is a must-have for fans of the series, along with fans of the genre looking for some open-world action on their Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
