Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2: Atlas Mugged is an amazing, and slightly shorter, entry in Telltale’s series. Every moment of this thrilling second chapter is extremely entertaining, as this continues to be one of Telltale’s greatest series to date. Atlas Mugged features some great dialogue between characters, along with an appearance from one of the best villains in gaming to date, Handsome Jack.
Tales from the Borderlands has mastered what is necessary in a decision based game– interesting dialogue. Rhys and Fiona narrating the story is as humorous as it was in the first episode, and the constant bickering between the two is always entertaining. Handsome Jack really makes Episode 2 of Tales from the Borderlands interesting, as it makes it seem more fit into the universe that Gearbox has created. The way that Rhys reacts to the appearance of Handsome Jack is completely up to the player, and both ways lead to humorous and engaging dialogue.
Other fan favorites from the Borderlands universe also make appearances during this episode, such as Scooter, who is another great fit for Tales from the Borderlands, since he is one of the funniest characters in the Borderlands franchise. Seeing these characters make an appearance in Tales from the Borderlands brings me the same joy as seeing fan favorites like Tyrion Lannister in Telltale’s Game of Thrones. It shows that the games are directly connected to the universes in which they are based in.
Rhys’ side of this episode’s story is a more lighthearted and comedic tale, where Fiona’s side is more serious. Telltale has crafted a perfect narrative in which these two stories with different tones seamlessly work together to make one incredible Borderlands story. Every scene in Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2: Atlas Mugged features hilarious dialogue and tough decisions. Atlas Mugged is one of Telltale’s strongest entries so far in a series, and I can’t wait to see where Tales from the Borderlands heads in Episode 3!
