SDCC: “The Walking Dead: The Final Season” Announced by Telltale Games

Since 2012, Telltale’s The Walking Dead series has been my personal favorite from the team. With an emotional story, great characters, tense moments, and being set in one of my favorite franchises of all time, the game has always been a pleasure for me to experience. Telltale Games has announced that the upcoming fourth season of the episodic decision-based series will, in fact, be its last.

When discussing & looking back on the character of Clementine over the years, actress Melissa Hutchinson reflected, “It’s going to be an amazing experience. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and so much love has been behind this whole experience. Good luck, I’ll be right there with you.” As a longtime fan of the franchise, I am both excited to see how Telltale concludes this epic story, and hopeful to see what is up next for the team. SDCC: Telltale Announces “Batman: The Enemy Within”

Telltale Games has announced that they will be continuing their critically-acclaimed series based on D.C. Comics’ famous caped crusader with Batman: The Enemy Within, premiering this August. The game’s first episode will release on August 8th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will also be making its way to iOS and Android in the forthcoming months. Telltale has always done an outstanding job of making players feel immersed in these fantastic worlds. #BE3: Fallout VR & DOOM VFR Announced

During Bethesda’s Sunday night E3 panel, the company announced that two of its biggest titles to date, Fallout 4 and DOOM, will be fully playable in virtual reality. The games, titled Fallout 4 VR and Doom VFR will be available in the future, and will be complete experiences, as opposed to some of the shorter and tech-demo esque games currently available on VR platforms. EXTENDED LOOK – Telltale’s The Walking Dead: A New Frontier + Release Date!

Last night at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards, the first official gameplay trailer was premiered for Telltale’s highly anticipated continuation of their Walking Dead franchise. Now, players can get a first look at part 1 of the two-part season opener: “A New Frontier.”

With updated graphics and some new faces, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Games Series is back & better than ever! Players will now experience the game from the perspective of Javier, who, as seen in the trailer, will encounter fan favorites during his travels. Both parts 1 & 2 will release on December 20th in an explosive premiere. Telltale Games has officially outdone themselves with the release of their newest title Batman: The Telltale Series. From the second the episode began all the way through its nearly 2 hour runtime, I have to  say that I have never been happier or more into one of Telltale’s titles than I have with this game. The game starts by throwing you into a crime taking place in the beautifully portrayed Gotham City. The game really makes the player feel as if they are controlling Batman’s every move, as he fights all of the opponents we see in the opening scene. The game’s first 30 minutes fly by, as we get to see Gotham from both the perspectives of the Caped Crusader and the billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne.

While the Batman segments of the game are extremely intense, and offer scenes similar to what you may find in the movies, the Bruce Wayne half really pushes the humanity of the universe on you, as you find yourself making some very weighted decisions. You are given the choice to stay to your roots and honor your parents, or work alongside a feared crime boss with many connections in Gotham. The game’s narrative will most definitely throw players for a whirl, as many unexpected twists and turns occur, along with many secrets being revealed about Bruce Wayne’s family in Episode 1.

The first episode also does an incredible job of introducing us to Telltale’s unique take on Gotham City. The environment looks beautiful alongside the new and improved visuals of the game, and it is the most graphically unique game from the developers since The Wolf Among Us. Telltale has upgraded their engine for Batman: The Telltale Series, and the game runs smoother than any of their previous titles. There are also many scenes where you can really see the beauty and detail in the game, like a part later on in the episode where we find Batman standing atop a roof in the rain. These moments really add to the already great experience, and help in making this the best Batman game available on the Xbox One so far.

Batman: The Telltale Series perfectly balances action, storytelling, and detective work to a point where no one aspect of the game feels as if it overshadows the others. I loved getting the chance to fight crime and plan my attacks via drone as Batman, and I thoroughly enjoyed the crime-solving aspects of the first episode from his perspective as well. However, being able to control Bruce Wayne as he talks with Harvey Dent, Jim Gordon, and the reporters of Gotham during press conferences is something I as a player have never had the chance to do before. Seeing the world through Bruce Wayne’s eyes opened up Telltale to a whole new way of storytelling, allowing players like myself to see how the decisions made by both Bruce and Batman can affect their other half.

Batman: The Telltale Series

Overall, I have to say that Batman: The Telltale Series is, by far, the best singular episode ever released by the Telltale Games team. From what I have seen so far, this game is shaping up to be my favorite episodic game series I have ever played. Telltale Games does an incredible job of bringing us a brand new story with a more mature tone, while still keeping all the famous characters from the Batman license true to form. I can’t wait to dive into the next episodes of the series, For more on Batman: The Telltale Series, keep it here on NextGenerationGamer!

Some new details have emerged about Rocksteady’s highly-anticipated virtual reality Batman game. According to Amazon’s listing of the upcoming Batman: Arkham VR, the game will be priced at $19.99. Insomniac Games Announces Spider-Man Game at E3!

Probably the highlight of Sony’s major E3 conference, it was announced that Insomniac Games will be taking on the license of Spider-Man in a big way!
