Telltale Games & Marvel Entertainment have announced that in 2017, they will be releasing Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. The series will contain five episodes, which will begin to roll out next year for PC, consoles, and mobile devices.

Batman: Episode 1 NextGenerationGamer Review

Batman Review Screen 1

Telltale Games has officially outdone themselves with the release of their newest title Batman: The Telltale Series. From the second the episode began all the way through its nearly 2 hour runtime, I have to  say that I have never been happier or more into one of Telltale’s titles than I have with this game. The game starts by throwing you into a crime taking place in the beautifully portrayed Gotham City. The game really makes the player feel as if they are controlling Batman’s every move, as he fights all of the opponents we see in the opening scene. The game’s first 30 minutes fly by, as we get to see Gotham from both the perspectives of the Caped Crusader and the billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne.

Batman Review Screen 4

While the Batman segments of the game are extremely intense, and offer scenes similar to what you may find in the movies, the Bruce Wayne half really pushes the humanity of the universe on you, as you find yourself making some very weighted decisions. You are given the choice to stay to your roots and honor your parents, or work alongside a feared crime boss with many connections in Gotham. The game’s narrative will most definitely throw players for a whirl, as many unexpected twists and turns occur, along with many secrets being revealed about Bruce Wayne’s family in Episode 1.

Batman Review Screen 2

The first episode also does an incredible job of introducing us to Telltale’s unique take on Gotham City. The environment looks beautiful alongside the new and improved visuals of the game, and it is the most graphically unique game from the developers since The Wolf Among Us. Telltale has upgraded their engine for Batman: The Telltale Series, and the game runs smoother than any of their previous titles. There are also many scenes where you can really see the beauty and detail in the game, like a part later on in the episode where we find Batman standing atop a roof in the rain. These moments really add to the already great experience, and help in making this the best Batman game available on the Xbox One so far.

Batman Review Screen 3

Batman: The Telltale Series perfectly balances action, storytelling, and detective work to a point where no one aspect of the game feels as if it overshadows the others. I loved getting the chance to fight crime and plan my attacks via drone as Batman, and I thoroughly enjoyed the crime-solving aspects of the first episode from his perspective as well. However, being able to control Bruce Wayne as he talks with Harvey Dent, Jim Gordon, and the reporters of Gotham during press conferences is something I as a player have never had the chance to do before. Seeing the world through Bruce Wayne’s eyes opened up Telltale to a whole new way of storytelling, allowing players like myself to see how the decisions made by both Bruce and Batman can affect their other half.

Batman: The Telltale Series

Overall, I have to say that Batman: The Telltale Series is, by far, the best singular episode ever released by the Telltale Games team. From what I have seen so far, this game is shaping up to be my favorite episodic game series I have ever played. Telltale Games does an incredible job of bringing us a brand new story with a more mature tone, while still keeping all the famous characters from the Batman license true to form. I can’t wait to dive into the next episodes of the series, For more on Batman: The Telltale Series, keep it here on NextGenerationGamer!

7 Days to Die Review for the Xbox One

7 Days to Die NGen Review

7 Days to Die is an unforgiving and challenging zombie survival game. Players will find themselves scavenging for the most basic of resources, including clothing, and the materials needed to craft weapons and tools. While the game is challenging, there are plenty of videos at your disposal that will aid you in your journey. 7 Days to Die is a difficult, yet rewarding, experience, as players feel significant progression as they work to upgrade their bases and keep themselves safe from the impending danger of the ravenous zombie horde that plagues Arizona.

7 Days to Die NGen Review

On the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, the addition of local split-screen play has been added, giving you and a friend the ability to survive in this zombie-ridden post-apocalyptic world together! Split screen works extremely well for this title. Online play in 7 Days to Die is another great way to experience the game. Whether you are playing locally or online, having a friend along with you for the adventure always helps in making 7 Days to Die one of the most enjoyable survival games out there!

7 Days to Die NGen Review

Out of all the zombie survival games that I have played, none of them have drawn me in as 7 Days to Die has. The environment gives off the atmosphere of lurking terror, the crafting menus are clean, and there is a sense of urgency in the game that pushes players to keep going. Whether I am out gathering resources or working on my base, I felt fully immersed in the world.

7 Days to Die NGen Review

Another great addition to 7 Days to Die is the inclusion of some fan-favorite characters from Telltale’s The Walking Dead series through DLC or pre-order of the game. Characters such as Lee Everett and Michonne can be played as, along with others like Season 2’s Luke! This is a nice addition to the already spectacular game.

7 Days to Die NGen Review

7 Days to Die does an incredible job of creating a dangerous atmosphere, and keeping players immersed in the world for hours on end. The game is one of my favorites that I have played so far on the Xbox One, and I can’t wait to get back into surviving in the vicious wasteland of Navezgane, Arizona! Batman: Arkham VR Announced at E3!

VR

It was announced at Sony’s E3 Press Conference that the Batman Arkham franchise will be heading to Virtual Reality. The trailer played the voice of none other than the Joker’s over Batman’s armor, as he discussed the significance of dawning the cowl. I can’t wait to jump behind the costume and get fully immersed this October. For more gaming news and E3 announcements, keep it here on NextGenerationGamer!

God of War Reboot Announced at Sony’s E3 Conference

God of War Screenshot 2

During Sony’s E3 conference after a beautiful orchestral opening, it was revealed that a reboot is on the horizon for the beloved God of War franchise. The new gameplay demo shows off Kratos and his son, as he teaches him to hunt in the wild. There is also a brief preview offered of what we should expect from the game’s combat. The demo also ended with a dragon flying toward the screen, which shows that we should expect new enemies along with a new tone overall for this upcoming action game. With God of War being one of my favorite PlayStation exclusives of the last couple of years, I cannot wait to see where the series goes on the PlayStation 4.
